Last week Trish and I went to Newport R I and watched our club The Royal Canadian Yacht Club defeat the world in the NYYC Invitational Cup. Going into the last race we were solidly in first place having held that position since the second of eleven races. The last race started slowly but half way through the first leg our team popes into first place and no one came close from that point on. This picture shows Daring our boat winning the last race.
This blog will tell the story of Bill, Trish and Kelly's trip to the Saguenay in the Province of Quebec. We intend to start on our journey June 29, 201. You are welcome to come along for the ride.

Awards Party
This of course is the RCYC crew accepting the NYYC Invitational Trophy. The dinner was wonderful the wine very fine but this was what we were waiting for. This is the second big win for our club in two weeks. We also won the Canada's Cup in Michigan.
A nice position to be in
This is the position we found ourselves in several times. NYYC was our main competition caring a chance to beat us into the final race.
On the way out
On the way out to the course we went buy a few very nice cottages. This on is now a hotel I believe.
Ushuaia
On Saturday we were guest of Patricia and Cliff Feehan aboard their yacht Ushuaia. It is a beautiful Oyster 485. It was a real treat to be on a fellow member's yacht as Daring crossed the line for the final time in race 11.
Friday's accommodation
On Friday we were invited to view the racing from Opus a gorgeous pilot house cruiser owned by Carol O'Mally a member of NYYC. As with all members Carol could not have been more gracious as a hostess. Along with several RCYC Members we were joined by members from Bermuda and Ireland. The day cooperated with calm seas and bright skies.
NYYC Harbour Court Newport R I
This is the New York Yacht Club's out station in Newport R I. The Club, the Staff and the Members could not have been more helpful or friendly. They welcomed us with open arms. I would at this time like to editorialise a bit. I believe it is important for sailing that The NYYC Invitational succeed. NYYC has put the racing back into the term "Yacht Racing". The boats are identical, nothing proved this better then the fact that 9 different yachts won one of the eleven races. Only Portugal and RCYC won two.
The Crew House
On Thursday evening the supporters went out to the home the crew rented for the week. The crew cooked us dinner and was it ever good. Nome of us can thank them enough.
Newport R I
This picture was taken from the New York Yacht Club Harbour Court. Every where you look there are beautiful yachts. Can you see the apartment building they anchored in the mouth of the harbour.
The Black Pearl
First things first. The first thing we did upon arrive g in Newport R I was to go get some clam chowder at The Black Pearl. We also got a little peak at The Newport Boat Show. The chowder was great and the boats 55 foot Hinkley was unbelievably beautiful. Our impression of Newport was when do we get a boat here.
