How to name a Yacht Club

It does not take much imagination to figure out how Cathedral Bluffs Yacht Club got it's name. While these cliffs are wonders of the world to a Toronto boy I understand they do not stack up to a hill of beans when compared to the scenery we will see in just a few weeks.

Just as we completed securing Irish Mist my three sisters showed up to take us all to dinner. This time unlike six years ago I did not spill any beer.

Tomorrow we are off to Coburg just under 50 nautical miles or about 8 hours. We are going to meet up with Arthur and Barbara English who are aboard their yacht Temagami a gorgeous Sabre 43.

After months of planning we are finally off

We have planned, discussed, mapped and worried enough. It is now time to cast off. At 4:45 Trish, Kelly, Molly and I left the RCYC for the East. Due to confusion at school concerning the actual time required to rap up for the year we are headed for Cathedral Bluffs rather then Whitby.

Learning the bowl

While waiting for school to end and our departure date, I decided it was time to learn how to lawn bowl. Fortunately we have a green beside the club house. Wednesday cannot come too soon.

Off to The Summer Ball with a Cuban theme

Last night Trish and I joined just over 300 fellow members at our Summer Ball. This year the organisers, who by the way did a magnificent job, had a theme of Cuba in the Fifties.

It was a great night, but all the talk revolved around our Wednesday departure.

Please stay tuned it is almost time.

The Roger's Center

For those of you looking in, the Blue Jays play their games in the sky dome now known as The Roger's Center. The roof as you can see is open. It takes about 20 minutes to close it. Fortunately it did not need to be closed last Saturday.

The Toronto Blue Jays vs The Boston Red Socks

For a few years now my sisters and I have invited very good friends who happen to be Boston fans, not that there is anything wrong with that, to a game here in TO.

Bill and Mary Helene could not make it, but then neither did the Blue Jays.

Final score Boston 13 Blue Jays 4.

If you look closely at the picture you can actually see the ball which my camera saw but the Blue Jay did not.

Two weeks to go and we will be off on our great adventure.

Frog Race winner [Laser] and one of the more inventive entries.

As you can see the rules allow just about everything except a motor.

The start of The Annual Frog Race

Each year the cruising sailors hold a Frog Race before their Spring BBQ. It is called the Frog Race not because frogs race, but because Frog Garden Gnomes are given to the winner.

This years race was won by three crew members paddling a Laser.
